PURPOSE:To restrict generation of knockings and avoid an output shortage of an engine, even in a low speed and high load driving such as an uphill running, by making a shift down of an automatic transmission when the level of the lag angle exceeds a specific value on detecting a knocking. CONSTITUTION:When a knocking of an engine 1 is detected, a lag angle amount to delay the angle of the ignition time is computed in an electronic control unit 60 depending on the amount of the knocking level, number of knockings and the like. When the resultant value exceeds a specific value, a shift down signal is transmitted, driving a solenoid valve in an oil pressure control device 33 to exercise a shift down of the automatic transmission 30. By such an operational control, knockings are restricted and an output shortage of the engine 1 is avoided even in a low speed and a high load driving condition such as an uphill running. |
