PURPOSE:To form a polychromatic image having superior resolving power without making the distribution pitches of color separating members uniformly small by making the distribution pitch of color separating members A to which a toner whose color gives the maximum visibility sticks smaller than that of other color separating members C or by distributing the members C among the members A. CONSTITUTION:A photoconductive layer 2 an insulating layer 3 contg. a layer 3a of distributed B, G and R color separating filters as color separating members are formed on an electrically conductive member 1. The ratio of the total area of the G filter parts of the filter layer 3a to the total area of the B filter parts and that of the R filter parts is (0.7-2):1. The resulting photosensitive body is electrostatically charged with an electrostatic charger 5 in a uniform state and the exposure IR of a red image is carried out to vanish negative charges on the interface between the layers 2, 3 at the R filter parts. The exposure LB of a blue image is then carried out to form the potential pattern of an image having a complementary color to B on the surface of the layer 3 at the B filter parts. A yellow toner image is formed with a developing device 8Y. After the surface potential is made uniform with an electrostatic charger 9Y, uniform exposure with green light and development with a magenta toner are carried out to form a two-color toner image. |
