PURPOSE:To obtain a copolymer useful for electrical parts, etc., having improved heat-resistance without lowering transparency and weather resistance, by copolymerizing an aromatic vinyl compound, an alkyl (meth)acrylate, (meth) acrylic acid, etc., within a specific compositional range. CONSTITUTION:The objective copolymer can be produced by copolymerizing 30-88(wt)% aromatic vinyl compound (e.g. alpha-methylstyrene, styrene, etc.), 10-50% alkyl (meth)acrylate (e.g. methyl methacrylate), 2-25% (meth)acrylic acid and 0-30% compound copolymerizable therewith (e.g. styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer) in the presence or absence of preferably <=20% rubbery polymer (e.g. polybutadiene, polyisoprene, etc.). The intrinsic viscosity [eta] (in dimethylformamide at 30 deg.C) of the copolymer component of monomers excluding the rubbery monomer is preferably 0.4-0.8dl/g. |
