PURPOSE:To obtain invariably uniform contact pressure and to form a developer layer which is uniform for a long time by specifying the length, thickness, and elastic modulus of the leaf spring material of a control member which controls the thickness of a layer on a developer carrier. CONSTITUTION:The control member 5 which controls the thickness of the developer layer on the developer carrier 4 is so set that l/t is 100-500 when the elastic modulus of the leaf spring material 7 which supports a soft elastic body 8 contacting the carrier 4 is 7-30X10<5>kg/cm<2>. In this case, l is the free length from the end of a support 9 to the contact point of the carrier 4 and (t) is the thickness. Consequently, invariably uniform contacting pressure is obtained between the control member 5 and developer carrier 4 to form the developer layer uniformly for a long time. |
