PURPOSE:To make the detection of the home position and the recovery operation state of a carriage by one set of a detection means possible, by a method wherein a slit plate is provided in one body united with a carriage and at the same time a means by which the slit of this slit plate is detected is provided. CONSTITUTION:A slit plate 16c is protruded downward on the side surface of a carriage 16 and this slit plate 16c has a plurality of projected pieces 160-163 and slits 164-166. Further, the photo interrupter 18 for confirming capping operation, recovery operation, etc. by cooperation with above-mentioned slit plate 16c is established on a substrate 1. Herein, the carriage 16 is moved while the slits 164-166 are being detected by the photo interrupter 18 in the operation of capping and the projected piece 163 is detected in the end of capping. Therefore, whether the operation of capping is certainly performed is confirmed by those photo interrupter 18 and slit plate 16c. |
