<p>Large bloated clay bodies are made by the flow method as in 2025598 but the red-out pyroplastic clay strand is pressed into the required cross-sections in a tunnel furnace at the end of the bloating zone by pressure plates. The latter are incorporated to be protected from heat, behind the movable furnace wall. During pressing they move through openings in the wall and after return to their original position. The beginning and end of the heating zone are so sealed by refractory shields that appreciable escapes of heat to other zones are prevented.</p> |
