PURPOSE:To impart excellent design effect without losing the inherent characteristics of a base material, by contacting at least one surface of a molded article with air and pressing a mold material having an uneven pattern applied to the surface layer thereof to impart the uneven pattern to the molded article and subsequently further advancing the polymerization of a vinyl monomer and the hydration reaction of cement on the surface layer to complete curing. CONSTITUTION:The surface desired to form an uneven pattern of a cement-containing W/O type emulsion molded article is contacted with air to delay the advance the polymerization reaction of said molded article and, in this state, at the point of time when plasticity suitable for forming the uneven pattern was provided and a non-sticky surface layer was formed is selected, a mold material having the uneven pattern applied thereto is pressed to the molded article to apply the uneven pattern to said molded article. At this point of time, the polymerization reaction of the vinyl monomer in the molded article contacted with air has been advanced considerably and a hard base material layer is formed and, therefore, the molded article is not destructed by the pressure imparting the uneven pattern to the surface layer. Said cement-containing W/O type emulsion molded article is cured by the advance of the polymerization reaction of the vinyl monomer and the hydration reaction of cement in a state allowed to stand at ambient temp. |
