PURPOSE:To prevent glass fine pieces from being inclined when pinching and press-sealing lead wires by using a spacer generated by locally heating glass pieces cut from a glass plate and bending them in a shape nearly equal to a face glass. CONSTITUTION:Glass fine pieces 20 cut from a glass plate are provided on a jig 40 and are locally heated with a burner 41, the glass fine pieces are bent along the jig, and a rectangular shape is formed while the jig is rotated in sequence. Further, a bulge generated at each corner section P is crushed, and the lug at the corner section is kept as flat as portions other than the corner section. An anode plate and a face glass are airtightly sealed to constitute an envelope via rectangular glass spacer thus generated.
