PURPOSE:To simultaneously improve resistance to wear of a cut blade part and bending, breakage, and the life of a drum part, by a method wherein a nitriding homo treatment is applied on the whole surface of a saw blade irrespective of the material of the blade, e.g., the same material, bimetal material. CONSTITUTION:Bimetal for a saw blade consists of SKH 51 for a cut blade part and a spring steel for a drum part. The saw blade material is nitrided at a temperature of 550-560 deg.C for 30-60min. After nitriding, homo treatment is applied on the saw blade material at a temperature of 530-550 deg.C for 30-60min. As a result, the outermost surface of the blade part is hardened to surface hardness of HV 950-1,200 and a drum part surface to hardness of HV 600-750. Application of nitriding homo treatment causes the outermost surface of the drum part to produce compression stress, and sharply improves fatigue strength. |
