The invention relates to a mattress with interior springs or a padded core to relieve stress on the heavy parts of the body, the interior springs consisting of interconnected cylindrical springs of a uniform coil diameter or double cone-shaped helical springs of a coil diameter varied in stages or shaped springs with a rectangular grid at the top and bottom and each having a covering plate above and below the springs. Inserted in the hollows of the springs or of the padded core and/or in the gaps between the springs are profiled bodies having a different pressure effect at different locations in the mattress. Relative to the interior springs or the padded core, these profiled bodies project up to the lower and upper covering plates or only up to the upper covering plate. Additionally, the interior springs are attached to the profiled bodies with a spacing corresponding to the projection from the lower and upper covering plates or only from the upper covering plate. <IMAGE>
