Radar device for measuring the distance separating it from a moving target

The device comprises a transmitter sending a continuous wave in the direction of the target. By mixing this continuous wave with that reflected by the target, a wave is obtained with a beat frequency depending on the Doppler effect. The extreme values of the beat frequency wave are processed by a logarithmic amplifier and an increment meter whose output gives an indication of the distance. This overcomes errors due to scatter in the properties of the components in the device and in the reflection coefficients of the target. Application to the triggering of proximity fuses. <IMAGE>
