PURPOSE:To make it possible to always obtain good printing quality regardless of the stiffness degree of paper, by constituting the titled printing apparatus so that the center of the heat generator of a thermal printing head comes to a paper discharge direction from the extended line of the straight line connecting the release point of a platen in a non-printing state and the paper wound around the platen in a paper discharge side and the center of the platen. CONSTITUTION:The center B of the heat generator of a thermal printing head 2 is set so as to reach a position transferred by about 1mm from the line connecting the center A of a platen 1 and a point 10 where paper 4 is released from the outer periphery of the platen to a paper discharge direction (D-direction) side. Because plain paper has weak stiffness, a plane part 1a is formed to the outer peripheral surface of the platen 1 by the pressing force F of the thermal printing head 2 and a heat generating resistor 2a applies printing to the paper 4 through a film ribbon 3a within said plane part. Next, because the pressing force F of the thermal printing head 2 to paper having strong stiffness such as a postcard is diffused to the contact part with the paper and the peripheral part thereof, the outer periphery of the platen 1 slightly deforms but the heat generating resistor 2a is certainly pressed to the paper 4 through the film ribbon 3a by the strong stiffness of the paper. |
