This table comprises an underframe 2 having two spaced vertical parts 2a and 2b and at least one horizontal crosspiece 2c, a top 1 of elongate shape, at each end of which is fastened at least one vertical rod 5 or 6 which is mounted so as to be vertically mobile in one of the vertical parts of the underframe, and a raising mechanism. The latter comprises a set of pulleys 16-25, a cable 13 which passes around the pulleys and which comprises at least two vertical strands 13a and 13b, which extend respectively along the vertical rods 5 and 6 of the top 1 and which are respectively attached to the said rods near their lower end, and a driving device 14, 15 connected to the cable, so that the two vertical strands 13a and 13b move in the same direction when the driving device is actuated. <IMAGE>
