The use of cpds. (I) as active principles in therapeutic ophthalmic preparation to be applied topically as anti-cataract agents is new. R-C6H4-(CH2)n-OH (I) R=H, (1-6)C alkyl, opt. mono- or bi-substd. H2, or OH; and n=1-6. Pharmaceutical prepns. for topical use contg. as active principle a therapeutically effective amt of benzyl-alcohol, m-hydroxybenzyl alcohol, or m-hydroxybenzyl-aniline are also claimed (group A compounds). |
