The detector of angular displacements of a rotating shaft comprises a proximity detector 8 mounted rigidly on a rigid framework 4 attached to the support of the rotating shaft so that its head 9 is directed along a direction Y extending radially with respect to the axis X of the said shaft, and so that it can thus detect the distance between this head and a metal target disposed opposite the said head along the direction Y and a metal target 13 attached to the rotating shaft and disposed opposite the head of the detector along the direction Y, which target consists of a metal plate with constant thickness curved along a cylindrical segment with generatrices parallel to the axis X and whose directrix is an arc of an archimedean spiral with axis X. <IMAGE>
