PURPOSE:To eliminate cumbersomeness such that the erroneous detection state of the reduction in an ink residual amount continues even after an ink storage means was replaced and to prevent the danger of ink leakage, by providing the suction means communicated with a hermetically closing means blocking a liquid amount meter from the atmosphere and the liquid amount meter and forcibly raising the level of ink in the liquid amount meter. CONSTITUTION:When the replacement of an ink cartridge 1 is urged by an alarm mechanism, a cap 5 is fallen by a solenoid 7 to be contacted with the opening part 2a of a manometer 2 under pressure and the manometer 2 is hermetically closed. Succeedingly, a recovery apparatus 6 is operated and air in the manometer is sucked out from an air flow passage 9 and new ink is supplied in the manometer 2 from an ink cartridge 1' through an ink flow passage 1a. During this time, when it could be confirmed that the manometer was reflenished with the ink until electrodes 3, 3 were sunk under the surface of ink by the resistance value between both electrodes 3, 3, sucking operation is stopped by the recovery apparatus 6. Thereafter, the cap 5 is raise by the solenoid 7 and the opening part 2a of the manometer 2 is opened to replenish the ink from the ink cartridge 1' by natural falling. |
