Medicaments, containing A) metamizole or its free acid or medicinally tolerable salts, its pharmacologically active metabolite 4-methylamino-1,5-dimethyl-2-phenyl-3-pyrazolone or its medicinally tolerable salts on the one hand and B) on the other hand codeine (7,8-didehydro-4,5-epoxy-3-methoxy-17-methylmorphinan-6-ol) and/or 7,8-dihydrocodeine and their medicinally tolerable salts, the weight ratio of the component A) to the component B), in each case calculated as active substance, being between 500:1 and 10:1, with or without C) pharmaceutical auxiliaries. The invention further relates to the use of the two components A) and B) in the given weight ratios for the production of medicaments for the treatment of pain and to dosage units which contain the abovementioned components A) and B).
