An injection unit for a diecasting or injection-moulding machine has an injection device (2) which injects molten material from an injection housing (5) into a die or mould (42, 43) during a die- or mould-filling phase. This injection device (2) is connected to a driving piston (52) of a driving-cylinder unit (53) and can be moved by the latter. The entire unit (1, 2, 52) consisting of the injection device (2) and the driving piston (52) consists of at least two parts (2; 1, 52) releasably connected to one another. A control device (58-70) for the movement of the injection device (2) during the die- or mould-filling phase and the subsequent secondary compression phase has a control valve (66). Connected to this control valve (66) is a signal transmission device (55, 155, 63) which originates from the unit (1, 2, 52), which, for its part, has a damping device (1-40), with the result that the two releasably connected parts (2; 1, 52) of this unit (1, 2, 52) can be moved relative to one another. <IMAGE>
