PURPOSE:To easily obtain a ferromagnetic fluid by a method wherein the metal compound containing the metal atoms of magnetic fine grains is plasma-decomposed in a reaction chamber, the obtained reaction product is adsorbed to the liquid to be used for a magnetic fluid. CONSTITUTION:A liquid container 1 is provided under a reaction chamber, the plasma generating gas 2 such as H2 and the like and raw gas Fe (CO)53 are introduced into the reaction chamber, and the chamber is maintained at the prescribed low pressure. An oil-soluble surface activator 5 is added to a low vapor pressure fluid 4 such as Si oil and the like, and a Langnuir film 6 whereon polarity radicals are formed in line is formed on the liquid level. Low temperature plasma 7 is generated in the reaction chamber, metal atoms or their group 8 are generated by the decomposition of the raw gas 3, they come down repeating fusion and growth, and the grown fine grains 9 are adhered to the film 6 on the surface of the liquid. When the liquid is agitated, the adhered fine grains 9 are enveloped by the surface activator and dispersed into the liquid, and metal colloid is generated. When the mixed gas containing NH3 is used, metal nitride is obtained. The diameter of the magnetic grains can be controlled easily, the magnetic grains are hardly degenerated even in an open type container, and a ferromagnetic fluid can be formed. |
