A pipe cutting machine, using two blades (6, 7) which operate in perpendicular directions and are activated in sequence to cut the pipe (8). The first blade (6) to come into operation acts at a tangent to the pipe (8), its function being to create a small transversal slot on the side surface of the pipe which acts as a guide for the second blade (7).
