PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF N-ALKYL-ANILINES

N-Alkylanilines are prepared by reacting suitable anilines at 150-300 DEG C with suitable alcohols in the presence of a catalyst comprising silica gel as support, 0.2-10% of platinum and 0.05-3% of a compound of a metal from groups Ia and/or IIa of the periodic table, the catalyst additionally containing at least one compound of an element from groups Ib, IVa, IVb, Vb, VIIb and VIII in such an amount that the atomic ratio of platinum to the sum of these elements is 1 to 6.
