Polyamide fibres, filaments or textiles are protected against attack by bleaches and detergents containing active oxygen compounds, during a washing or bleaching treatment, by the presence of at least one agent comprising biguanide, a derivative thereof substituted in the 1- and/or 5-position by an optionally substituted C 1 _ 6 alkyl group or cycloalkyl group wherein each amino or imino group of the biguanide moiety still contains at least one hydrogen atom and/or a salt of said biguanide or derivative. In the Examples fibres of 6, 6-polyamide or 6-polyamide are bleached in a bath containing H 2 O 2 ' magnesium sulphate, water glass and one of the protecting agents biguanide, 1-methyl-, 1-n-propyl-, 1-isopropyl, 1-n-hexyl-, 1-cyclohexyl or 1, 5-dimethyl-biguanide. |
