1,187,526. Safety belt buckles. S. M. LINBLAD. 25 Sept., 1968 [6 Oct., 1967], No. 45623/68. Heading E2A. In a safety belt buckle, the belt 26 is secured to a striking-plate 25 which is held by a sliding latch bolt 15 which may be lifted against spring-pressure by a Z-shaped lever 20 which pivots at 21 when arm 22 is manually depressed. When the plate 25 is inserted into the buckle, it engages a cam or pawl surface 18 on the latch bolt 15 to raise it sufficiently for its narrowed lower-portion to pass through slot 29 and then drop into the hole at its end. The anchorage connection 2 consists of a plastics-covered wire connected to a threaded pin 9 or an eyelet 11. Release of the buckle is facilitated by spring 24. Instead of being pushed through access hole 23 in the casing as shown, the lever may be arranged to be pulled. |
