[Also in Division C3] Lubricant compositions comprise dispersant additives prepared by reacting with diketene a long-chain substituted succinimide derivative of one of formulµ where R 1 and R 2 are long chain substituents, preferably derived from polyolefins, n is 2 or 3, and m and (p+q) are 0 to 8. Preferred R radicals are derived from polyethylene, polypropylene, polybutene and polyisobutene. Examples describe lubricating compositions comprising paraffinic oils, additives prepared by reacting polyisobutenyl succinic anhydrides with tetraethylene pentamine and diketene, zinc dialkyl dithiophosphate and a metal aryl carboxylate. |
