<p>PURPOSE:To remelt metal in a short time by charging metallic chips into a swirly flow of molten metal in a swirling vessel and feeding the molten metal mixed with the metallic chips to a melting furnace so as to prevent the chips from rising to the surface of molten metal in the furnace. CONSTITUTION:Molten metal in a reverberatory furnace 1 is pumped up 2 and fed to a swirling vessel 5 from the upper pat of the side wall of the vessel 5 through a pipe 3. Metallic chips 7 are fed to the molten metal swirled in the vessel 5 from the top of the vessel 5 or the upper part of the side wall through a conveyor 6. The chips 7 are swallowed up by the swirly flow and mixed with the molten metal. The chips 7 mixed with the molten metal is drawn from the bottom of the vessel 5 and fed to the charge inlet 4 of the furnace 1. By this method, the surface oxidation of the metallic chips 7 is inhibited and the chips 7 are well mixed with the molten metal, so the chips 7 are rapidly melted in the furnace 1.</p> |
