PURPOSE:To manufacture a curved FRP (fiber-reinforced plastic) tube excellent in external appearance and dimensional accuracy by a method wherein a fiber, which is continuously wound onto a flexible mandrel, is installed in an outer mold under the bent state and, after that, resin liquid is forced in between the outer mold and the mandrel and cured. CONSTITUTION:First, a reinforcing fiber 5 is wound onto a tubular mandrel 1, which is formed by covering the tubular mandrel rigid in radial direction and flexible in longitudinal direction such as a coiled spring 3 with a sleeve 2. Secondly, the resultant fiber is installed in an outer mold 6 consisting of an upper mold 7 and a lower mold 8 under the bent state. Finally, resin is forced through a resin forcing port 9 and cured. Because the impregnation and curing of the resin is performed between the outer mold and the mandrel, the obtained tube has high dimensional accuracy and favorable external appearance. Furthermore, the demolding of the tube is easy and its production efficiency can be enhanced. |
