PURPOSE:To recover advantageously an FeCl etching soln. by bringing a spent etching soln. into contact with an org. solvent to extract an iron chloride complex, bringing water into contact with the org. solvent to transfer the complex to the aqueous phase, and concentrating the resulting aqueous soln. by heating. CONSTITUTION:A spend etching soln. contg. Fe and Cl ions is brought into contact with an org. solvent selected among neutral phosphoric esters and alkylamines and diluted with a petroleum hydrocarbon to extract an iron chloride complex consisting of FeCl3 and HCl. Water is brought into contact with the org. solvent to transfer the complex in the solvent to the aqueous phase as FeCl3 and HCl. The org. solvent is regenerated by the transfer. The resulting aqueous soln. is concentrated by heating to increase the concn. of FeCl3 as well as to remove excess HCl by evaporation. The concd. aqueous soln. of FeCl3 can be utilized again as an etching soln. |
