In the embodiment of Fig. 2, the mechanism includes a plate 12, carrying an elastic, e.g. rubber or neoprene, member 13, a bolt head 16 being centred on the plate, the bolt 11 being threaded through a plate 10 fixed to the element 1, and entering a bore 15 therein. Alternatively, the mechanism may incorporate elastic pads 20, 21 beneath the plate 22, a thin layer 31 of elastic material on plate 30 being optional. Strips of elastic material may be fixed to the elements along the edges thereof, e.g. (7), Fig. 1 (not shown). The elements may comprise channel-sectioned panels 33, of, e.g., glass, located between top and bottom members 42 and 41, with, optionally, an elastic strip therebetween.
