PURPOSE:To make a concentration process smooth and to make mass production of glass easy in a producing method of glass due to a sol-gel process by subjecting the dispersed liquid of a fine grain of silica which is obtained by hydrolyzing alkylsilicate with a basic catalyst to ultrafiltration and concentration. CONSTITUTION:In a method producing glass by a sol-gel process wherein alkylsilicate is used as an essential raw material, the dispersion liquid of a fine grain of silica which is obtained by hydrolyzing alkylsilicate with a basic catalyst is concentrated by an ultrafiltration membrane. The concentration process of the dispersion liquid of the fine grain of silica wherein a long period is necessitated and it is inefficient and also the loss of an available component is caused in the conventional technique can efficiently and effectively be performed and the mass production is made easy. Furthermore obtained quartz glass is inexpensive in cost and the purification is possible and the mass production of high-quality quartz glass is made easy because the raw materials are wholly liquid. |
