Post-chlorinated PVC is treated with olefinic hydrocarbon. - Product has improved thermostability and shows practically no discolouration when moulded. - C2-4 olefin is used which reacts with Cl2 to give same chlorohydrocarbon as is used for swelling PVC. After treatment, product can be washed with water, neutralised with alkaline soln. and washed with water, then is washed with organic solvent (CH3OH or (CH3)2CO) and dried. PVC is post-chlorinated by introducing Cl2 in presence of CH2CL.CH2CL.
