PURPOSE:Conjugated fibers fro ma thermoplastic polymer are stretched in parallel lines, heated to the temperature at which all the component polymers melt and fined down lower than a specific value to give conjugated fiber containing extremely fine islands. CONSTITUTION:Conjugated fibers composed of 2 or more kinds of thermoplastic polymers such as polyester, polyamide, polyethylene or polystyrene are stretched in parallel into one string. The resultant fiber bundle is heated up over the melting points of high-melting polymers, then fined into less than 1/10, preferably less than 1/100 of the original cross section to give the objective fiber. USE:It is suitably used as artificial leather, filter or high-density woven fabrics, because it has high gas permeability, but no water permeability. |
