In order, in the interests of optimum travel stability, to be able to make the mutual spacing between the pairs of rollers of a movable stretcher as large as possible and to facilitate loading of the stretcher into the transport vehicle, pairs of collapsible rollers (11, 11a) are arranged at the top end (6) of the stretcher (1) and pairs of retractable rollers (43, 44) guided in guide pipes (31, 32) are arranged on the bottom end of the stretcher. The pairs of collapsible rollers (11, 11a) are held in their functional position by struts (15, 16) which can be automatically unlocked when the stretcher is pushed into the transport vehicle. The pairs of retractable rollers (43, 44) can be unlocked manually via an unlocking device (38, 39). In front of the pairs of rollers (11, 11a, 43, 44) in the insertion direction of the stretcher there are each arranged pairs of supporting rollers (21, 22, 28, 29) which can be attached to the loading platform of the transport vehicle. The pairs of retractable rollers (43, 44) are retracted via springs which are provided in their struts (34, 35) and which are tensioned when the rollers are extended. <IMAGE>
