A piano provided with pedals (5) is proposed, in which an electrically controllable actuating element (7) is provided, which acts on the pedal mechanism. The actuating element can, for carrying out a pedal movement, be modified in its state via a switch. The switch is actuated by a part of the body of the piano player, preferably his back or his hands. In this manner, the effects of actuating the pedals are achieved without using the feet. The present piano is thus suitable for such people who, as a result of a physical disability, cannot actuate the pedals in the usual manner with the aid of the feet. <IMAGE>
