A safety belt arrangement in a car is proposed, in the case of which arrangement a three-point belt is provided with an advancing arm which is pivotable about an approximately horizontal shaft on the vehicle, engages with a carrier on the eye, which is provided with a lock, of the belt and can be pivoted from a rest position into an advancing position, which pulls the belt forwards, and back again. The advancing arm is held in the drag bearing so as to be displaceable with respect to the drag bearing in the direction of the arm. The relative displacement of the advancing arm is controlled in such a way that in its rest position it extends essentially vertically in the centre pillar of the vehicle and in the advancing position is pushed forwards out of the centre pillar and extends approximately horizontally.
