The present invention relates to a phosphate-free detergent which is characterised by the content of an enzyme with pectinase activity and has a great power in removing inorganic soil from the laundry. A preferred phosphate-free detergent contains 0.1 to 30% by weight of the enzyme with pectinase activity such as, for example, polygalacturonase, pectin lyase or pectinesterase, 5 to 40% by weight of a surfactant, 5 to 50% by weight of a phosphate-free builder such as, for example, an aluminosilicate, and 0 to 10% by weight of a high molecular weight compound such as, for example, carboxymethylcellulose.
