In order to produce an antireflection film on spectacle lenses made from polydiethyleneglycol diallyl carbonate, a first, optically passive metal oxide layer as adhesion layer; a second layer of an optically effective, high-refractive-index metal oxide; as third layer a low-refractive-index material which acts as a dielectric; a fourth layer of a further high-refractive-index metal oxide; and, as fifth layer, a low-refractive-index material which acts as hard layer are vapour-deposited in vacuo. The plastic objects coated in this way are distinguished by an optical and mechanical quality which was hitherto not achieved, which considerably broadens the range of applications of such objects.
