A food vending machine is provided with at least one heat-insulated storage cabinet (11) for the temperature-controlled storage of food and at least one dispensing cabinet (12) for the treatment and dispensing of the food. The cabinets (11, 12) are constructed as units which are detachable from one another. At least one transfer opening is arranged in the side walls (25, 30) which are adjacent when the cabinets (11, 12) are put together. To keep a cold loss from the storage cabinet (11) as small as possible, on at least one of the cabinets (11, 12) there is arranged a seal which bridges an air gap (35) between the cabinets (11, 12) when the cabinets (11, 12) are put together and extends substantially all the way round the transfer opening (Fig. 2a). <IMAGE>
