The separator is formed by the folding of a porous plastic (e.g. fritted PVC) sheet and welding of its sides (8). The envelope is characterised by longitudinal ribs (2) on its internal or external surface which are interrupted regularly at the level of the fold zone (4) at least. A former (e.g. a roller with regularly interrupted peripheral grooves matching the rib contours) shapes the sheet from which such an envelope may be made.
