PURPOSE:To strengthen a joined part between a ferrule and an optical fiber by arranging the joined optical fiber and ferrules between extremely thin metallic plates and tightly bonding both the extremely thin plates to coat the optical fiber and the ferrules. CONSTITUTION:The ferrule-joined optical fiber obtained by joining the ferrules to both the end parts of the optical fiber is held and pressed by the extremely thin metallic plates 41, 42 from the upper and lower directions. The extremely thin plates 4 are applied to a part of the rear end parts of the ferrules 2 arranged on both the end parts and continuously applied also to the optical fiber 1, so that the ferrules on both the end parts and the joined parts with the ferrules and the whole surface of the optical fiber can be coated with the same metallic plates. Thus, the joined part between the ferrule and the optical fiber can be sufficiently strengthened. |
