Aroylthiazolones of the formula <CHEM> enhance myocardial contractile force and are useful as cardiotonics in the treatment of heart failure. wherein R1 is a hydrogen or alkyl group; and R2 is a phenyl or benzyl group optionally substituted with one or two members of the group consisting of alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkylsulfinyl, alkylsulfonyl, trifluoromethyl, cyano, amino, mono- and dialkylamino, pyrrolidino, piperidino, morpholino, piperazino and N-alkylpiperazino or halogen or a methylenedioxy group. |
