发明名称 FORMATION OF GAP FOR MAGNETIC HEAD
摘要 PURPOSE:To control a gap thickness and to stabilize the characteristics of a magnetic head by using chromium, etc., as a gap thickness protective layer for sputter etching to be executed in the stage of forming coils. CONSTITUTION:The chromium is formed as the protective layer 1 on a magnetic gap part and after an insulating layer 6 is formed thereon, a copper-plated coil 5 is formed thereon as the conductive layer. After the chromium-copper layer which is the conductive layer is removed, the insulating layer 6 is provided on the coil 5 and 'Permalloy(R)' which is an upper magnetic layer 7 is formed on the magnetic gap. As a result, the thickness on the magnetic gap of the magnetic layer can be controlled to the thickness which is of no problem even if the protective layer is not added. The gap thickness maintains the value provided in the initial period, thus the stable magnetic head is obtd.
