PURPOSE:To improve the quality of the film of a photosensitive material and the raw stock preservability of the material by heating the photosensitive material in the presence of water and a base and/or a base precursor after or during imagewise exposure to form an imagewise distribution of a mobile dye. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive material having photosensitive silver halide which is reduced to silver at a high temp., a binder, a dye providing substance which produces or releases a mobile dye in proportion or inverse proportion to the progress of the reduction and an org. solvent having a high b.p. by <=10ml per 1g dye providing substance on the support is heated in the presence of water and a base and/or a base precursor after or during imagewise exposure to form an imagewise distribution of the mobile dye. An org. silver salt may further be used by 0.01-1mol per 1mol photosensitive silver halide. The proper total amount of the photosensitive silver halide and the org. silver salt is 50mg/ m<2>-10g/m<2> (expressed in terms of silver). Thus, the quality of the film of the photosensitive material and the raw stock preservability of the material are improved. |
