PURPOSE:To obtain the titled interlaminar compound having improved stability, high graphitization ratio and large area, by inserting an intercalation compound into a position between specific graphitized film graphite layers. CONSTITUTION:A polyphenylene oxadiazole(POD) film is heated at 2-10kb in the presence of 2-20wt% catalyst consisting of fine powder of element of group IVb-VIIb and group VIII (e.g., Fe, Co, Sn, etc.,) of the periodic table (and, if necessary, in an inert gas or in vacuum) at >=160 deg.C and graphitized, to give a POD(GPOD) film. Then, a GPOD film 2 is set in one bulb of a Pyrex tube consisting of two bulbs and a donor type intercalation compound (e.g., Li, Ba-NH3, etc.,), acceptor type intercalation compound (e.g., Br, FeCl3, etc.,) or covalent bond intercalation compound [e.g., F or O.(OH)]1 in the other, the tube is evacuated, sealed, heated, the intercalation compound in a gaseous phase is brought into contact with the GPOD and reacted to give the titled interlaminar compound 2 into which the intercalation compound 1 with a specific number of stages is obtained. |
