PURPOSE:To form stably a magnetic film having high coercive force by adding a complexing agent having an aminoacetic acid group to an aqueous soln. alkalified with an alkali hydroxide and contg. Co ions and a Co ion reducing agent so as to facilitate pH control. CONSTITUTION:An electroless plating bath is prepd. by adding Co-base metallic ions in the form of cobalt sulfate, etc., a metallic ion reducing agent such as sodium hypophosphite, a complexing agent having an aminoacetic acid group and a pH buffer such as boric acid, and the pH of the bath is adjusted with an alkali hydroxide such as NaOH or KOH. When the resulting electroless plating bath is used, a magnetic film for a magnetic recording medium having high coercive force can stably be formed at a practical plating rate. |
