Device for supporting or moving one or more loads forwards, backwards up or down, characterised in that it comprises a section 1 used as a rail or track for carriages 2 supporting a load 3 - a C-shaped housing 4, which is firmly fixed and parallel to this section, receives a continuous chain 5 running from one end to the other of the sections placed end to end, regardless of their length. The chain is fixed in its housing and is used as a rack by a pinion 6 driven by a motor. The device may comprise a reduction gear between the motor and the pinion or more simply, a variable speed motor. Device particularly adapted for handling treatment-spraying pipes and lighting banks inside cultivation shelters or greenhouses as well as for the handling of objects. <IMAGE>
