PURPOSE:To increase the feeding rate, uniformize the growth and shorten the growing period of silkworm, by compounding an artificial feed for silkworm with powder of the stalk or leaf of a specific plant of Compositae family or a sweetener component extracted therefrom. CONSTITUTION:An artifical feed for silkworm is compounded with the powder of stalk or leaf of Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni (a plant of Composite family) or a sweetener component extracted from Stevia. The Stevia used as a raw material is a plant of Compositae family having a height of about 80cm and native to the northwest district of Paraguay, South America. It can be cultured in Japan from Hokkaido prefecture to Okinawa prefecture. Stalk of leaf of Stevia contains 6-12% sweetener component containing steviaside and rebaudioside A having a sweetness of as high as 250-450 times that of sucrose. Powder of Stevia stalk can be produced usually by drying the stalk with hot air to a water-content of about <=12% and pulverizing the dried product. |
