PRODUCTION OF OIL-SOLUBLE NITROGEN-CONTAINING COMPOUND

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound in short step, by the radical telomerization reaction of a specific nitrogen-containing compound as a telogen with a specific alpha-olefin as a taxogen under a radical-generation condition. CONSTITUTION:An oil-soluble nitrogen-containing compound having an average molecular weight of >=300 and nitrogen-content of 0.1-10wt% is produced by the radical telomerization reaction of a mixture of (A) 1mol of a nitrogen- containing compound of formula I (R<1>-R<4> are H or 1-45C hydrocarbon group wherein 1-4H atoms may be substituted with amino or OH or 1-10C atoms may be substituted with N or O) as a telogen and (B) 0.1-20mol of alpha-olefin of formula II (R<5> is H or 1-28C alkyl) as a taxogen under radical-generation condition. the radical generation condition can be achieved by the use of a radical initiator (e.g. hydrogen peroxide) and/or radiation having a wavelength of <=300nm.
