1316237 Tube packaging VOLUME PAC AB 1 Feb 1972 [2 Feb 1971] 4636/72 Heading B8C [Also in Division F2] In making a tube of soft weldable material e.g. for packaging, two or more strips 8 are simultaneously and intermittently advanced around a shaping tube 1 and a number of shaping devices 5 equal to the number of strips are moved by cylinders 4 towards the shaping tube 1, during a standstill phase of the strips movement, to close the respective strip about its respective part of the shaping tube so as to bring the adjoining edges of the strips into abutting planar engagement and the adjoining edges are welded by known welding units 6. As shown the shaping tube 1 is elastically deformable but the tube 1 can be non-deformable in which case the shaping devices 5 are shaped so as to be a snug fit around the shaping tube 1. When the welding is completed the devices 5 are withdrawn by cylinders 4 and the strips are advanced. The tube 1 can be associated with a filling hopper (not shown), for making bag type packages. |
