1281141 Controlling engines FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 4 Feb 1971 3860/71 Heading F1B In a diesel engine, a fuel shut-off lever 10 is moved between an "on" position 12 and an "off" position 11 by an electric motor 18 which is in series with a first set of contacts C and E, an engine on/off switch 22 and a power source when the switch is in its "off" position and with a second set of contacts B and D, the switch and power source when the switch is in its "on" position. The first set of contacts is opened only when the fuel shut-off level 10 is in its "off" position and the second set only when lever 10 is in an "on" position (i. e. either a normal "on" position or an "exess fuel" position). When the switch is moved to its "on" ("off") position, the motor turns until the shut-off lever reaches an "on" ("off") position, the motor then stopping. The contacts are made and broken by an insulating disc bearing on part of its surface a conducting layer, the disc being rotated by the motor. |
