PURPOSE:To simplify constitution by dispensing with a displacement mechanism used so as to be contacted with an ink ribbon under pressure and allowed to be spaced apart therefrom, by providing a pressure contact means for contacting the part immediately after heating of the ink ribbon with the recording surface of a sheet under pressure of a thermal head. CONSTITUTION:The part of an ink ribbon 9 contacted with a heat generating resistor 4a generating heat is heated and heat-meltable ink 11 melts and is transferred to recording paper 2. The heated part of the ink ribbon 9 is contacted with recording paper 2 under pressure after heating until reaches the pressure contact roller 7 of the pressure contact member 20 provided to the back surface side of a thermal head 4 and cooled during this time to solidify the ink part and, therefore, breakage is not almost generated at the end part of a character transferred at the time of release and sharp recording is performed. Because the pressure contact member 20 is provided to the thermal head 4, a displacement mechanism is dispensed with and a simple structure is obtained. |
